Avast Mac Security For 2011 Macbook Pro
Although it is generally not recommended, you can exclude certain files, programs, mail servers, or websites from being scanned by the Core Shields in Avast Security and Avast Premium Security (previously Avast Security Pro). Exclusions can be useful to speed up scans or to prevent false positive detections.
Follow the instructions below to manage Core Shields settings or set exclusions for File Shield, Web Shield, and Email Shield.
Manage Core Shields settings
To manage settings for any of the Core Shields:
Download the Avast Security Pro for Mac setup file by clicking the button below and save it to a familiar location on your Mac. Download Avast Security Pro for Mac Double-click the downloaded setup file avast_security_online.dmg and select Avast Security Pro. - In your Applications folder, double-click the Avast icon to open the application.
- Click Core Shields.
- Click the Settings icon.
- Click the check box next to a setting to uncheck (disable) it.
- If prompted, use your Touch ID or enter your Administrator password and click OK.
Exclude files from File Shield
To exclude files, folders, or applications from being scanned by File Shield:
- In your Applications folder, double-click the Avast icon to open the application.
- Go to ☰ Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Core Shields.
- Click Add Exceptions in the File Shield section.
- Select the file, folder, or application you want to exclude from scanning, then click Open.
- If prompted, use your Touch ID or enter your Administrator password and click OK.

The file path is added to the exceptions list. To remove an excluded item, click the exception's file path panel, then click the trash can icon.
